What first-timers need to know
about Soča Outdoor
A more beautiful venue for the Soča Outdoor Festival would be hard to imagine. The confluence of two alpine rivers, the Soča River and the Tolminka River, creates a setting so magical it feels like nature itself is hosting the trail running festival. The main festival area is just 250 meters from the pebbly beaches along the Tolminka and Soča, within easy reach of the Soča Outdoor campsite and flat meadows that serve as parking during the event. The town of Tolmin, with its restaurants, shops, and accommodation options, is only a ten-minute walk away — so even though you’re surrounded by wild nature, civilization is never too far.
Dijaška ulica 18, Tolmin, Slovenia

Main festival venue
The main festival site is the flat area around the old military barracks (later a hotel, a club, and a few other things). This is where registration takes place (bib number pickup) and where all the Soča trail run races start, except the Vertical Run. In the pleasant shade of old trees, you’ll find our SOF shop and other stands offering sports gear and nutrition (exhibitors usually offer special discounts). There’s also a large tent serving hot meals, the winners’ podium, drinking fountains with fresh water, and showers and toilets nearby. In short, this is the heart of the Soča Outdoor Festival — a vibrant and accessible hub, also suitable for visitors with reduced mobility.
The Confluence (Sotočje)
Just 250 meters from the main festival area lies the famous confluence of the Soča and Tolminka Rivers — the legendary finish line of all races (except the Vertical Run). It’s probably one of the most refreshing finish lines in the world of trail running. The confluence area features a finish-line aid station with drinks and snacks (for runners only), beautiful pebbly beaches, and a riverside bar. Bring a blanket, a towel, or even a SUP board to paddle down the calm Soča River towards Most na Soči.
Festival campsite
Just 200 meters west of the main venue lies the Soča Outdoor Festival campsite, an improvised but friendly area equipped with chemical toilets, outdoor showers, and washbasins.

Parking
Directional signs and our stewards will guide you to the paid parking area on a grassy field about 300–400 meters north of the main venue. Thank you for following their instructions. The parking fee is €5 per vehicle for all three days of the festival. Free parking (P3, near the Tolmin Gorges) is located about 2 km north of the festival site. In both cases, you’ll need to walk from the parking lot to the venue — consider it a pre-race warm-up.

Dogs are welcome, but please be respectful
Dogs are welcome at the Soča Outdoor Festival, but they must always be on a leash and under control. Please clean up after your pets. Owners are fully responsible for their dogs’ behavior and any damage or inconvenience caused to other visitors, animals, or property. Getting to Tolmin
Transport to the event represents the largest share of the festival’s carbon footprint, so we encourage participants to use the most sustainable travel options possible:
By train
The nearest train station is in Most na Soči, approximately 6 km from the venue. Trains arrive from two directions — from Jesenice, Bled, and Bohinjska Bistrica (north), or from Nova Gorica (south). You can bring your bike on the train, and the line between Bohinjska Bistrica and Nova Gorica even offers a car-train service, a unique alpine experience. Participants who arrive by train receive a 20% discount on registration for the next I feel Slovenia Soča Outdoor Festival (just show your train ticket).
By bus
Several daily bus lines run from Ljubljana to Tolmin, taking about 2 hours and 25 minutes.
Carpooling
Share the ride with friends or look for/offer rides in the official Soča Outdoor Festival prevozi/transfers>Soča Outdoor Festival Transfers Facebook group..
By car
We get it — sometimes driving is just the easiest option. You can reach Tolmin via: Logatec and Idrija (nearest highway connection), Škofja Loka, Železniki, and Baška grapa (a narrow, winding road, not ideal for motorhomes), Bohinjska Bistrica and Soriška Planina (or by car-train through the tunnel), Nova Gorica following the Soča River, or from Bovec via Vršič or Predel Pass. For parking details, see the section above.
